Lightbox

Guidelines for using the Lightbox (formerly the dark room).

The Lightbox is a new idea by club members to provide a space for members to work on their photography projects. It is also a place for small groups of members who want to learn more about photography techniques and equipment. Plus, it offers internet access for club members who want to watch Zoom meetings with other club members.

Remember, the Lightbox is only for Haddington Camera Club members and only club members can use the Lightbox equipment. Members do so at their own risk, any breakages or equipment malfunctions must be reported to the Club Secretary by email as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours.

Flammable materials or using strong chemicals in the Lightbox is strictly prohibited.

Non-club members cannot use the Lightbox without the club Secretary’s permission which should be requested by email and a club member must take full responsibility for their actions.

Lightbox users must be quiet and respectful of other users of the Poldrate Centre.

The Lightbox can only be booked through the online booking system on the Haddington Camera Club Members Only section of the website.

Club members using the Lightbox must sign into the Poldrate building when they enter the building and sign out when they leave, in the book provided by the entrance door. The Poldrate is only open between 10 am and 10 pm.

We discourage “Lone Working” in the Lightbox - if you are working alone please ensure that you comply with the Lone Working Guidelines displayed on the Poldrate noticeboard.  Please be aware of your own safety at all times.

Users of the Lightbox will not have access to the club’s PC or projectors, but you can bring your own laptop and lights if required. (The club’s PC and external monitor  will be made available for use during Zoom meetings and catch up on Zoom recordings).

Please remember that you are using the club’s equipment at your own risk. If you are not confident in setting up equipment, don’t try. Ask someone who knows how.

The club’s electrical equipment in the Lightbox has been PAT tested to meet safety standards. To meet insurance requirements, members using the Lightbox should not use any other electrical equipment other than their own laptop and lights.  All electrical equipment brought in for use must be removed at the end of the session.  HCC will not be held liable for the damage or loss of any equipment brought into the Light Box.

Any props or equipment brought into the Lightbox must be removed at the end of the session.

The heater, kettle and lights must be turned off and the door securely locked and the key returned to the key safe at the end of the session.

The Lightbox must be left clean and tidy for the next user. Cups should be washed and any rubbish removed at the end of the session.
