A busy night at this week’s club meeting.
First off Elaine took us through the Nature Competition images and the club members voted. For the winning images, see here.
The winner was Ian Smith with his image Aurora in Snowfalla. This was followed closely in joint second place by Muriel Huggins with her image Male Kingfisher with Catch and Rudolf Hummel with his image Facing the Storm. Well done!
Bill Patterson showed us some images that he had recently had converted to digital from slides taken on his travels in Europe in the 1970s. Some really interesting images particularly of political posters etc which really captured the time period.
David Youles then give us an insight into his plans for his project for this year which is to combine researching his family history and with flat-lay photography to represent individual members of his family. Really interesting idea and we will all be keen to see the results of this project.
Following our summer outing with the drone last year Jon Moore was inspired to get a new “toy” and he gave us some insight into owning and using a drone. Sounds like it takes a bit of getting used to! He then showed us some of the interesting photographs he has achieved this year, particularly over the historical sites in the area, which definitely does give a different perspective! Maybe we should consider the purchase of a HCC drone?
We then followed this up with a practice for the Match An Image (MAI) competition, we thought this would be useful as a lot of our members have never take part in this type of competition before. Michael and Alastair were in “charge” of the teams and Grace was the judge. This was a spirited affair with a fair amount of heckling and, once we got to grips with the scoring, it was a close contest with Michael’s team emerging as the winners.
We then reviewed the images that have been submitted so far for the MAI competition. We currently have about 80 images but we need more, so if you have any images that you think may be suitable please send them to Grace (progsec@haddingtoncameraclub.org.uk) as soon as possible.
Few other points to note:
We need the trophies returned by the middle of February to allow us time to have them engraved for the AGM
Paul is also in the process of preparing the Agenda for the AGM so if you have any issues you want to raise please email him on secretary@haddingtoncameraclub.org.uk
