Last week we had a very interesting talk from Richard O'Brien entitled 'Architecture: Exposure to Edit' - zoom replay available (if you're a member) for another week or so here. Richard is a big fan of Platypod camera 'tripods' (or substitutes for a tripod) - link here. I have one that I used up the Empire State Building, where conventional tripods would be discouraged (or banned); it allowed the camera to be attached to a strap, with the strap itself firmly attached to the safety fence.
Please remember to return any trophies you have, next Tuesday - they need to be back to give the engravers time to get the 2023-2024 winners names engraved. Sorry that you don't get to keep them but maybe take a photo of it before you hand it back ?

This week's meeting was by Zoom, the judging of our Mono photos by judge David Sadler.
As Grace and Lorraine reviewed :
"Interesting Monochrome competition with Judge David Sadler who admits to photographing “Wacky Selfies” (example shown below) and taking photos of everyday items with a twist.
He shared his guidance and thought process of judging, making him sound like a tough judge.
The reality was he gave good constructive feedback whether he liked the image or not.
He also commented positively on our category groupings for our competitions and plans to share this at Dundee Camera Club where he is a member. There was a brief discussion on a “no scoring system” which they use in Dundee. Something for us all to think about.
