BBC4 had a photography themed evening earlier in the week. I caught up with 'Tish' on iPlayer - a biopic lovingly made by her daughter Ella, of her mum Tish Murtha (1956-2013) who photographed her community in Newcastle; gritty 35mm B&W photos often featuring some of her 9 siblings, as they all grew up, and her community into the 90's and beyond. Worth a look, although be warned it's not an easy or happy, watch.
Also on BBC4 was part one of Britain in Focus, a series I remember as excellent from when it first aired in 2007 and hosted by Eamon McCabe.

There's a very good exhibition on at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, free, until September 2024 - Beyond Coal. Lots of B&W community photos, from around 1982 - a significant period of Scottish Coal's long history.
