Our first competition of the season! Memorable for several reasons, I suggest.

Congratulations to Elaine for her 'A Study in Red' - this post's featured image. This image was deemed the winner of the Season Starter, judged by John Glynn. The gallery below also has images from Matt, Maria, Jane and Karen. Welcome and congratulations to these new mambers. I have updated the cumulative score sheet, available here (for which you will need the members' password). Also, you will find the recording of last night's zoom, viewable via the following members' only page - here. Available till 28th October.

Worth noting, I think, wise words from Mike, our Competitions Secretary which I have paraphrased below :

 - An interesting night! An explanation (and empathy!) to all who received a disappointing score: Maybe this was the club's fault for not asking the judge to have a minimum score. As has been noted elsewhere, don’t be put off. A different judge would have given very different scores. Congratulations to Elaine who wins the season starter trophy. Elaine had a very good night and leads the cumulative score tally with a very impressive 57/60. Congratulations to Matt also who has the best score so far for new members (53).

John is also judging our jubilee competition later in the year but you will be relieved to hear that there won’t be any scoring on that occasion, just an overall winner. The next competition is Nature, judged by members. This is on the 11th November with a closing date of 28th October. As usual all entries to the compsec address. -

Next week's meeting is in the hall, 21st October, 7.30, and will be a practical Portrait evening. Please bring your camera/phone/pinhole and you'll be able to try out our new light system, with backdrops and setups.
